One of the characteristics that distinguish human beings from the plant kingdom and other animals  is our freedom to make choices. For better or worse, we humans possess specific powers of choice.  The powerfull freedom of choice that is bestowed upon us should be recognized and respected as an honor and privilege to behold. Human beings possess free will and consciousness.

Every single choice that we make in life counts. The choices that we make today will have an impact on exactly where we will be in life tomorrow, next year and a decade. Every single choices that we make also comes at a cost so every choice that you make in your life demands payment (up front) of your time and oppurtunity cost. Since you are in charge of the choices that you make, it logically follows that you are also responsible for their results. How could it be any other way? Nature made you the boss of yourself. Its both immature as well as irresponsible to blame someone else for the choices you make. You are totally the responsible for your choices.

Since we are free to choose, it also means that we are free to make mistakes. So naturally people will make them. Most of the choices that are made are those that are only concerned with the short-term consequences.  To only make choices wit the short-term in mind is everyones right. But it often comes with a large long-term price tag. Another mistake that people continually make is the DENIAL of responsibility of their choices.

Kung sa tagalog pa “Kung anong itinanim iyon din ang aanihin.” Kung masamang gawa ang lagi mong ginagawa ofcourse it will always come back to you. Makaingon jud ka na bilog ang mundo. So for those people na ganahan kaayo manakit ug kapwa muabot ra nang time na kamo na pud ang masakitan. Pag kanang time muabot, kataw-an tamo! wahahahaha

The skill of setting priorities can prove to be one of the most valuable talents you can ever develop and hone throughout your lifetime. Those individuals that set priorities for their activities each day will direct their time, energy and resources toward the areas they deem are most important in their life. We all eventually realize that there’s never enough time in a day, week or month to satisfy all our responsibilities in all of our roles. We are always faced with making decisions on what we should be doing at every moment. We often struggle with these decisions, usually due to the lack of a plan with clear cut priorities set for what is most important in our life.

Too often, we go through days or weeks without any clear cut priorities for our activities. We just dress up as a potential firefighter ready to take on the next crisis that pops into our life at work, at home or in our organizations. The crisis doesn’t even have to belong to us. It can be someone else’s crisis that we feel compelled to take charge of, or help to solve. Due to our lack of experience, we get involved in areas we have no business being in and complicate our lives even more. The day ends and another starts and the beat goes on.

Life can be so much more fulfilling if you can figure out what activities are most important in your job, business, family, and relationships. Then begin planning your days around the highest priority tasks that will make the greatest strives toward achieving success, happiness and satisfaction for yourself and those you love. Some good advice I heard was to focus on your work when you are working and focus on yourself or you family when you are at home. I know this is easier said than done – however its advice that is worth following. There should be a certain number of hours each day that you plan to work smart at your job or business, with a starting and ending time pre-determined. You don’t have to work the same exact hours each day, but once you set the daily schedule – STICK TO IT.

Once I learned how to set priorities in my life – things were changed forever. I formulated a plan for my month, my weeks and my days. Beginning around the time I bought my IBM XT, I woke up early each morning and set up my activities for my day using an early generation of Contact Managers or PIM’s. I had clear cut objectives and tasks each day, prioritized by their importance, with reminders and alarms set. I learned that with the proper training and guidance others COULD perform tasks just as well as I could and delegated as many activities as possible – with systematic follow-up to make sure everything was being accomplished on time. My appointments and meetings had agenda’s, starting times and ending times and my planning and priority setting skills grew stronger each year. Eventually I evolved my planning skills to having a starting time and an ending time for my work activities each day and disciplined myself to stay on schedule and get home on time.

How to Make the Perfect Cup of Coffee

Recommended Materials:

French press  They come in a wide variety of sizes, materials, and designs.  The traditional glass press in the 4-cup (0.6 liter) size is a good choice.

Fresh, clean, good tasting water  Depending on your tap water, your coffee can turn out tasting sulfurous, metallic, tinny, flat, or worse. The ideal water for brewing coffee is free of odor, off tastes, and chlorine. Most bottled drinking water works.

Burr grinder  Going from pre-ground to freshly ground whole beans is one of the best ways to improve the home coffee experience. This type of grinder provides a much more consistent particle size than the grinders most people are familiar with, and consistent grounds yield a sweeter, more enjoyable cup. But any grinder is better than no grinder.

Freshly roasted coffee beans  Find a local coffee house that roasts its own beans. Ask what is seasonally fresh, as well as what is fresh from the roaster. Coffee is a perishable product that is less than spectacular when it has staled. To order coffee on-line, there are great reviews of coffee (and cafes) on coffeegeek.com and home-barista.com. If you don’t want to research, look for coffee that has some kind of freshness dating and is 100% arabica (the preferred coffee bean species).

Steps to Perfect Coffee (4 cups

1.  Heat about a liter of good-tasting water on the stove or in an electric kettle.

2.  When the water boils, pour a few ounces into the French press to preheat. The ideal water temperature for brewing is between 195 and 205 degrees F, so if you bring the water to a full boil (212 F at sea level), by the time you follow steps 3-5, the water should have cooled to the right temperature.

3.  Using the right ratio of coffee to water is one of the most important things you can do to ensure a good cup: 2 generous tablespoons (7-9 grams or 1 scoop of a standard coffee measure) to 6 ounces of water. For 4 cups, measure out 8 generous tablespoons (30-35 grams) of fresh roasted coffee beans.

4.  Grind the coffee in the grinder to a relatively coarse grind, about the size of medium coarse sea salt. To get the grind right, do a little comparative tasting. Try grinding a little finer than grounds from a can from the grocery store, about the same, and a little coarser.

Note: If your coffee is too strong, try adjusting the grind of the coffee coarser rather than using less coffee.

5.  Pour out the water used to preheat the press, add the ground coffee, and fill the carafe with new hot water from the kettle. Stir gently — just enough to get all the grounds wet. Then insert the top of the French press in the “up” position.

6.  Set a timer for four minutes.

7.  After four minutes, push the filter down, pour, and enjoy. Don’t leave the coffee in the press for long or else it will continue to get stronger, and ultimately bitter. Instead, pour the remaining coffee into a thermal carafe.
